Wind Festival Results!

The 2nd Annual Wind River Festival in Stabler Washington provided the setting for a number of great memories as 51 participants enjoyed the rugged Class IV+ whitewater of the Wind River Canyon. National Championship

On January 19, 2009 the United States Rafting Association (USRA) Board voted unanimously to make this years National Championship event an R4 race. The International Rafting Federation (IRF) has recently moved to an alternating R6 (2009 Bosnia), R4 (2010 Netherlands) format, thus the USRA shall follow suit by making this years Nationals a qualifier for the Netherlands. The downriver discipline will be on the Youghioghney River, while the Sprint and Slalom disciplines will take place at the Adventure Sports Center International (ASCI) whitewater park located in McHenry, Maryland. National Rafting Championships

Due to the need for timeliness in making a decision on the location for this year’s event, the USRA elected to forego a public bid application process for the next two years only. A public bid application process will go into effect when selecting the 2010, and 2011 venues, just as soon as the USRA amends and approves the bylaws in this area. The USRA has decided that the 2009 event will be hosted in Maryland. USA Rafting Assocation

The United States Rafting Association (USRA) is the governing body of raft racing in the United States. It works with the International Rafting Federation and other national governing bodies throughout the world to make sure the United States is represented in international competition. The USRA also strives to promote the sport of raft racing in the United States from a local level to a national level. Teams selected through the Naional Championships (Whitewater Cup) represent the United States in international competition. The USRA will continually strive to grow the sport within the USA.
